Grommet speedometer shaft into gearbox for all BMW R2V models. The most common cause of gearbox damage is water penetration on the cover f the speedometer cable. Our gearbox guard prevents it reliably with the newly engineered shape. Therefore it makes sense to replace this part immediately if it is porous or worn out.
Speedometer Cable Boot, Improved VersionThe speedometer cable boot is sort of an Achilles' heel on the two valve twins that was never upgraded. The rubber deteriorated with time and the fit around the cable becomes loose. Water will potentially enter the transmission and if gone unchecked, transmission bearing failure is a likely outcome, all because of a cheap little rubber boot.
